Strings that end in a % (percent symbol)

PROBLEM: If a PowerPac function contains a numeric string that ends with a % (percent symbol),
your book will either fail to load or freeze when the browser attempts to execute the function.

Why can't I enter a string for a PowerPac function parameter that ends with a % (percent) symbol?
Please note that not all ToolBook versions encounter this problem.
